Everybody’s feet are unique consequently it is important that an insole is specifically contoured to provide maximum support and comfort. Your orthotist will observe how you walk/run with and without your shoes, they will also take a series of measurements such as foot size and width. The orthotist may use ubersense video recorded technology to assess your gait or running on treadmill. They may also take a plaster cast or impression (using a foam impression box) of your foot to ensure the full shape of your foot is captured. Using all of the information gathered your orthotist can then design the right insole for your sporting needs.
