The Unloader Hip is designed to be used in the treatment of hip osteoarthritis. Using a series of pulley style straps the Unloader Hip providing abduction and external rotation of the hip joint. This consequently relieves the affected area reducing pain, increasing stability and mobility.

What is the process to be receive an Unloader Hip?

The process to receive an Unloader Hip would be:

  • Assessment
  • Measuring
  • Fitting
  • Review

In order to establish whether you are suitable for an Unloader Hip your orthotist will discuss with you your current OA status, the unloader is suitable for mild to moderate hip OA. If it is deemed appropriate your orthotist will take measurements specifically of your hip circumference, this will enable them to select the correct size. The Unloader Hip has a series of adjustments available which your orthotist will explain and set dependant on your needs.
