DMO shorts/leggings are a dynamic fabric device designed to re-align the legs and activate muscles to encourage the correct posture. They work by using dynamic fabric with specifically located panelling to provide structure, support and stimulation. DMO shorts/ leggings aim to improve lower limb function (including the pelvis) through the unique neuro-sensory system.

What are the indications for use of DMO shorts/leggings?

There are many indications for using DMO shorts/leggings. These include:

  • Pelvic instability
  • Low muscle tone
  • Excessive rotation of the hip
  • Pain associated with the pelvis
  • Knee hyperextension
  • Mild drop foot

What is the process to be recieve DMO shorts/leggings?

The process to receive DMO shorts/leggings would be:

  • Assessment
  • Measuring
  • Fitting
  • Review

DMO shorts are custom made to your measurements and specifications. Your orthotist will complete an assessment, observing your ability and needs for the device. They will also take a series of measurements. Using the information gathered they will then discuss the need for and location of reinforcement panels. The completed assessment will then be submitted to the manufacturer for your bespoke shorts to be made. On completion you will meet with your orthotist to ensure the fit is perfect and the shorts are comfortable.
