Ribcap
Ribcap is a new cranial protection device which incorporates both safety and fashion. The Ribcap uses sewn in viscoelastic protectors to absorb impacts which may occur. Whilst the Ribcap is not a helmet is does provide protection against low level impacts. Ribs caps are available for children and adults.
What are the indications for use of a Ribcap?
There are many indications for using a Ribcap. These include:
- The want to have increased protection in situations such as walking on slopes, ice rinks or on snow/ice covered roads or even playing golf
- Risk of falls due to poor balance
- Hypermobility

What is the process to be receive a Ribcap?
The process to receive a Ribcap would be:
- Assessment
- Measuring
- Fitting
- Review
The Ribcap offers a specific level of protection to the head and skull therefore your orthotist will complete a thorough assessment as to whether the Ribcap is suitable for your needs. If deemed appropriate your orthotist will then discuss the range available to you and will take a series of measurements to establish the correct size. Your Ribcap will then be ordered and you will be required to return for a fitting appointment to ensure your Ribcap provides the required protection.
