WalkAide 2 FES system

The WalkAide 2 is an advanced functional electrical stimulation (FES) device designed to support individuals with drop foot, improving their ability to walk by safely lifting their foot. This innovative system uses electrical impulses to stimulate the nerves and muscles, helping those who struggle to clear their toes while walking due to muscle or nerve conditions.

Why might I need the WalkAide® II?

The WalkAide 2 is the second generation of the WalkAide system, which has helped thousands worldwide walk more confidently and safely. It is ideal for individuals dealing with foot drop, which is caused by conditions affecting the muscles or nerves in the lower limbs. This includes muscle disorders, nerve injuries, and various brain or spinal conditions. Those affected by foot drop often find it difficult to lift their feet when walking, and the WalkAide 2 is designed to address this challenge.

How does the WalkAide 2 work?

The WalkAide 2 delivers mild electrical impulses to the nerves in the leg with each step, prompting the muscles to lift the foot. The device uses an internal sensor to detect the leg’s motion and speed, adjusting the stimulation to fit the user's walking pattern. This ensures that the stimulation timing adapts in real-time to accommodate variations in walking speed, so the toes clear the ground properly during each step. Users can also modify walking programs to optimise their walking experience.
